Job Summary:
The Workshop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the workshop, ensuring that all heavy equipment is maintained, repaired, and serviced in accordance with company standards and manufacturer specifications. This role plays a critical part in ensuring equipment availability, reliability, and safety for rental operations.
Key Responsibilities:Workshop & Team Management
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of technicians and mechanics in the workshop.
- Schedule and allocate daily work based on job priorities and equipment requirements.
- Ensure workshop operations are performed efficiently, safely, and in a timely manner.
- Monitor technician performance and provide training or guidance as needed.
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Oversee diagnostics, repair, and preventive maintenance of heavy machinery (e.g., excavators, bulldozers, loaders, cranes, generators).
- Ensure adherence to OEM standards and safety regulations.
- Approve completed jobs after final inspection and testing.
- Track equipment service records and history for fleet health monitoring.
Inventory & Spare Parts Management
- Monitor stock levels of parts and consumables.
- Coordinate with the procurement team for parts requisition and inventory control.
- Ensure proper documentation and labeling of spare parts.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of work orders, service reports, and maintenance logs.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly workshop performance reports.
- Support audits and inspections by providing required documentation.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Enforce safety standards and conduct safety briefings.
- Ensure workshop tools and equipment are maintained and calibrated.
- Comply with environmental and health regulations.
Qualifications:
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5–7 years in heavy equipment maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Certifications: Relevant technical certifications; safety training is an advantage.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, electrical systems, and diagnostics tools.
- Software Skills: Familiarity with maintenance management systems (CMMS), MS Office Suite.
