What Makes a McKibbon Banquet Server?

The hotel Banquet Service is responsible for preparing coffee breaks, carts, and stations with appropriate food and beverages as stated in Banquet Event Order. Prepare tables, action stations, buffets, service carts, dessert table/carts and cordial carts. Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen. Ensure courses are cleared and tables are properly cleaned. Respond to and try to fulfill any special banquet event arrangements. Replenish buffet items to ensure consistency and freshness in presentation. Monitor tableware to ensure it is presentable to guests. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned station and service areas. Bus tables by removing and separating tableware, plate ware, glassware, and flatware.

A Day in the Life:

  • You will carry food, dishes, trays, or silverware from pantry to serving counters.
  • You will set up attractive food displays and maintain cleanliness to ensure food safety.
  • You will wipe tables or seats with dampened cloths.
  • You will scrape and stack dirty dishes and carry dishes and other tableware to kitchens for cleaning.
  • You will run the dishes through dishwasher and ensure all sanitation practices are followed
  • You will clean up spilled food, drink or broken dishes and remove trash.
  • You will maintain adequate supplies of items such as clean glassware, dishes, or trays.
  • You will fill beverage and ice dispensers.
  • You will stock serving areas
  • You will locate and provide items requested by guests.
  • You will clean and polish counters, shelves, walls, furniture, or equipment in pantry or breakfast area and mop or vacuum floors.
  • You will be aware of guest satisfaction scores and work toward increasing departmental and overall guest satisfaction.
  • You will practice safe work habits and use required safety equipment.
  • You will ensure overall guest satisfaction.
  • You will perform other duties as requested by management
  • Responsible for event set up, service and breakdown.
  • Reports to Banquet Captain

Job Requirements:

  • Be available for events as scheduled with proper notice (Hours may Vary depending on business needs).
  • Banquet Bartending experience preferred
  • Previous experience as a banquet/catering server preferred
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule, including shift work, weekends, and holidays
  • The legal ability to serve alcohol in the State/Province
  • Knowledge of state and local guidelines regarding service of alcohol
  • Knowledge of drink preparation
  • Computational skills to process guest payments
  • Course work or certification/education in restaurant or business field are highly desired
