Job Description
As Banquet Bar Captain, you’ll oversee all bar operations for catered events, functions, and banquets. This role ensures efficient, polished beverage service aligned with event timelines, client specifications, and venue standards. The Bar Captain leads bar staff on event days, coordinates closely with the Banquet Captain/Sales/Event Manager, and is responsible for setup accuracy, service execution, alcohol compliance, and breakdown.
- Deliver professional, courteous, and timely beverage service to all guests, aligning with Brand & Hotel standards and policies
- Execute bar service according to BEOs, including bar counts, locations, service times, and hosted vs. cash bar details
- Oversee bar setup, décor placement, signage, and breakdown for each event
- Ensure bars are fully stocked, organized, and ready prior to guest arrival
- Assign bar stations and responsibilities based on event size and complexity
- Conduct pre-event briefings to review menu offerings, specialty cocktails, and service expectations
- Ensure standardized drink recipes and portion control are followed
- Monitor usage, waste, and spillage throughout the event
- Address guest concerns discreetly and promptly during events
- Adapt to changes in event flow or guest count while maintaining service standards
- Coordinate liquor requisitions and returns along with updating bar par sheets
- Conduct monthly inventory
- Report shortages, breakage, or issues to Banquet Management
- Hold wine and liquor educational trainings and mentoring sessions with banquet staff
- Communicate proactively with Banquet Captains, Event Managers, and Culinary teams
- Report event outcomes, staffing challenges, or guest feedback to management
