Chief Timekeeper

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of site timekeepers.
  • Develop and implement standardized timekeeping procedures and best practices across all projects.
  • Conduct training sessions for timekeepers and site supervisors on proper timekeeping protocols and system usage.
  • Assign and monitor the workload of the timekeeping team to ensure all projects are covered accurately and efficiently.
  • Oversee the collection, verification, and processing of all daily timesheets from various construction sites.
  • Ensure accurate coding of hours to specific projects, cost codes, tasks, and phases.
  • Reconcile hours worked against project schedules, work orders, and crew assignments.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in time entries with project managers and foremen.
  • Maintain a meticulous audit trail for all labor data.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between project sites and the Payroll department.
  • Prepare and submit certified, accurate labor data reports for weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the HR Accounting and Cost Control departments to ensure labor costs are allocated correctly.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes related to labor costs.
  • Ensure strict compliance with company policies, union agreements (if applicable), and federal/state labor laws (e.g., overtime, prevailing wage).
  • Generate detailed daily, weekly, and monthly labor reports for project management, highlighting productivity, variances, and trends.
  • Analyze labor data to identify areas for improved efficiency and cost savings.
  • Prepare specialized reports for project audits and claims analysis.
  • Act as the super-user for the company’s timekeeping software (e.g., ORACLE FUSION HCM).
  • Ensure data integrity and system functionality, recommending upgrades or changes as needed.

Requirements:

  • BS degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field is required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of direct experience in a timekeeping role.
  • Atleast 5+ years must be in the building contracting or construction industry in UAE.
