Duties
- Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen station to promote food safety and efficiency
- Assist in menu planning by suggesting new dishes and flavor combinations based on current trends and seasonal ingredients
- Handle food safely by following proper food handling procedures, including storage, sanitation, and temperature controls
- Support catering events and special functions by preparing large quantities of food with attention to detail
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service and uphold high-quality standards during busy hours
- Use knife skills proficiently for chopping, slicing, dicing, and other food preparation tasks
Qualifications
- Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is advantageous but not required; a strong interest in culinary arts is essential
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or restaurant settings demonstrating excellent kitchen skills
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling practices
- Familiarity with menu planning, meal preparation, and food industry standards
- Strong knife skills and ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in catering or serving is a plus but not mandatory; enthusiasm for teamwork is vital
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy items safely, and maintain focus during demanding shifts
