Job Summary:
The Breakfast Attendant is responsible for providing excellent customer service during the breakfast hours at a hotel. This includes setting up the breakfast area, ensuring the food is replenished and fresh, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting guests as needed. The Breakfast Attendant plays a key role in creating a positive experience for hotel guests in the morning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation & Setup:
- Set up and arrange the breakfast buffet or serving area according to hotel standards.
- Ensure food items are stocked, fresh, and replenished as needed throughout breakfast service.
- Follow food safety guidelines and maintain proper food handling practices.
- Prepare coffee, tea, and other beverages as needed for guests.
- Ensure that all breakfast items are labeled correctly, including allergens and dietary options.
- Guest Service:
- Greet guests in a friendly and welcoming manner as they enter the breakfast area.
- Assist guests with their breakfast selections and offer to-go options if available.
- Ensure that all guest requests and concerns are addressed promptly and professionally.
- Answer any questions about the breakfast offerings and provide recommendations as needed.
- Cleaning & Maintenance:
- Clean and sanitize tables, chairs, and all breakfast area surfaces regularly.
- Remove empty plates and utensils from guest tables in a timely manner.
- Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and dining area during service.
- Restock napkins, silverware, and condiments as required.
- Perform deep cleaning at the end of each breakfast service, ensuring the area is spotless.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels of breakfast items and communicate with management about reordering supplies.
- Keep track of any expired or outdated food items and remove them from the buffet area.
- Maintain proper storage of food items and supplies according to hotel policies.
- Health and Safety Compliance:
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation protocols set by the hotel and local regulations.
- Ensure the breakfast area adheres to food safety standards (e.g., proper food temperature maintenance, cleanliness).
- Be aware of potential food allergies and sensitivities and provide appropriate accommodations.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work effectively with other hotel staff, including housekeeping, kitchen staff, and front desk.
- Attend team meetings and provide feedback on guest satisfaction.
- Assist with any other duties related to breakfast service as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members.
- Customer Service: A friendly, professional, and service-oriented attitude.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to ensure cleanliness and accuracy in food setup and presentation.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift items up to 25 pounds.
- Organization: Strong organizational skills to manage time effectively during busy breakfast hours.
- Food Handling: Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Multitasking: Ability to manage several tasks at once, especially during busy periods.
Education & Experience:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Experience: Previous experience in a customer service role, preferably in the hospitality or food service industry, is a plus.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced hotel breakfast service environment.
- Hours of operation typically range from early morning (around 6 a.m.) to mid-morning (10 a.m. or 11 a.m.), depending on the hotel’s breakfast hours.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
Physical Demands:
- Standing for extended periods.
- Lifting and carrying food trays, containers, and supplies.
- Ability to perform routine cleaning and sanitation tasks.
