FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Pay: $11.35 + tips

Hours: Combination of shifts, AM, Mid and PM shifts based on business and events

Weekend coverage needed consistently – If you are looking for weekends off, this is not the job for you

Summary: The Food Runner plays a critical role in delivering an exceptional dining experience by efficiently transporting food from the kitchen to guests. This position ensures accuracy, presentation, and timeliness of all orders while acting as a key liaison between the kitchen and front-of-house team. Food Runners support overall restaurant operations by assisting servers, maintaining cleanliness, and anticipating guest needs.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Deliver food orders to guests quickly, accurately, and with proper presentation
  • Verify order details, including table numbers, modifications, and completeness before leaving the kitchen
  • Ensure all dishes meet quality standards for temperature, appearance, and doneness
  • Garnish and finalize plates according to restaurant specifications
  • Track ticket times and communicate delays or issues to servers and kitchen staff
  • Provide attentive and responsive service to guests throughout their dining experience
  • Answer basic menu questions and accommodate guest requests (refills, utensils, etc.)
  • Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction and relay feedback to management
  • Ensure guests have proper table settings to enjoy their meals
  • Act as a liaison between front-of-house and back-of-house teams
  • Assist servers by refilling beverages, delivering additional items, and supporting table service
  • Respond to last-minute requests and communicate effectively during high-volume periods
  • Clear tables of dishes, glassware, and debris between courses and after guest departure
  • Maintain a clean and organized dining area, including handling spills promptly
  • Clean and maintain trays, tray stands, and service areas
  • Uphold sanitation and food safety standards at all times
  • Set up service stations with necessary plateware, utensils, and supplies
  • Keep stations fully stocked throughout the shift
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including breakdown and cleaning
  • Complete all assigned side work in both front and back of house
  • Follow all safety, sanitation, and workplace guidelines
  • Report any unsafe conditions, accidents, or injuries to management immediately

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong customer service skills with a positive, team-oriented attitude
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Excellent communication and multitasking abilities
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Physical stamina to stand/walk for extended periods and carry trays (up to 50 lbs)
  • Self-motivated with high energy and a proactive mindset
