Responsibilities
- Provide peer support and mentorship to individuals facing mental health, addiction, or behavioral health challenges as they pursue employment opportunities.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage positive change and reinforce clients’ strengths and goals.
- Assist clients in developing job readiness skills, including resume writing, interview preparation, and workplace communication.
- Conduct crisis intervention and crisis management when clients experience emotional distress or behavioral crises, ensuring safety and appropriate referrals.
- Collaborate with behavioral health professionals, social workers, and employment specialists to coordinate care plans and support services.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions using electronic health record (EHR) systems while respecting confidentiality protocols.
- Advocate for clients’ needs within the community and connect them with additional resources such as addiction counseling or social services as needed.
Experience
- Lived experience with mental health challenges, addiction recovery, or navigating employment barriers is highly valued.
- Prior experience in mentoring, social work, behavioral health, or related fields is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and crisis management strategies essential for supporting clients in distress.
- Familiarity with behavioral health concepts and mental health counseling approaches enhances effectiveness in this role.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and build trust with diverse populations.
- Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems or similar documentation tools is advantageous.
