Full job description
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the ambulance safely and efficiently to transport patients, medical staff, and equipment.
- Respond promptly to emergency and non-emergency calls.
- Ensure the ambulance is always fueled, clean, and properly maintained.
- Assist medical personnel in lifting, moving, and positioning patients when required.
- Perform daily checks of the ambulance (tires, brakes, fluids, lights, sirens, oxygen, and other emergency equipment).
- Maintain accurate trip logs, mileage reports, and patient transport records.
- Follow local traffic laws and regulations while ensuring the safety of patients and staff.
- Communicate clearly with dispatchers, hospitals, and emergency teams.
- Maintain confidentiality and provide compassionate support to patients and families.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols at all times.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Valid Manual driver’s license appropriate for operating an ambulance (may require a heavy/light vehicle license depending on country).
- Clean driving record with proven safe driving experience.
- Knowledge of traffic rules, local routes, and emergency driving techniques.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and CPR ).
- Physical ability to assist with lifting and moving patients.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
