We offer flexible schedules and shifts starting at 3am, 5am, 7am, 9am, 12pm, 1pm, and 5pm. There is always a shift to fit your schedule.
A Baker is a professional responsible for the preparation and baking of California Buns, a yeast dough pastry filled with sweet or savory fillings. This role involves mixing dough, shaping and filling California Buns, and ensuring the quality and consistency of the finished products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dough Preparation: prepare yeast dough according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Measure and mix ingredients, including flour, yeast, water, sugar, and fat.
- Monitor dough fermentation and proofing times to achieve the desired texture and flavor.
- Portion and shape dough into rounds or squares, ensuring uniformity.
- Add fillings to the center of each pastry.
- Skillfully seal and shape the pastries, creating an attractive appearance.
- Operate commercial ovens and baking equipment to bake product to perfection.
- Monitor baking times and temperatures to achieve the desired color and texture.
- Rotate trays or racks as necessary to ensure even baking.
- Quality Control and inspect buns for quality, including appearance, texture, and taste.
- Remove any imperfect pastries from the production line.
- Ensure that buns meet established standards for taste and presentation.
- Maintain inventory of fillings, including sweet and savory options.
- Monitor ingredient levels and reorder supplies as needed.
- Ensure proper storage and labeling of ingredients to prevent spoilage or contamination.
- Adhere to strict hygiene and food safety standards.
- Clean and sanitize workstations, equipment, and utensils regularly.
- Follow safe handling procedures for raw and cooked ingredients.
- Recipe Development (Optional): collaborate with the culinary team to create new bun flavors and variations.
- Experiment with different fillings and dough recipes to expand the menu.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a cook or baker is preferred.
- Knowledge of dough preparation techniques and baking processes.
- Attention to detail and a passion for creating high-quality pastries.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and time management.
- Knowledge of safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Flexibility to work early mornings or late evenings as needed.
