Location: Mennonite Memorial Home – Maple Crest (MHCO)
Status: Full-Time, Part-Time
Department: Dining Services
Reports To: Director of Dining Services – Dietary Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Overview:

As a Food Service Aide, you will be responsible for assisting with meal service, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring that elders’ dietary needs are met. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Serving meals to elders while following therapeutic dietary guidelines and portion control.
  • Setting up dining areas with dishes, utensils, and condiments while maintaining a welcoming environment.
  • Transporting food and supplies using carts weighing up to 200 lbs and ensuring proper food temperatures.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing dining areas, including wiping tables, removing trash, and sweeping floors.
  • Assisting with washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment either by hand or using a dishwasher.
  • Handling and storing food and supplies following safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Delivering soiled dining linens to the laundry as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Willingness to care for older adults and commitment to the organization’s mission.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety, sanitation practices, and kitchen equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow simple written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to move quickly and effectively between tasks.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  • Frequent standing, bending, stooping, and stretching.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs constantly.
  • Exposure to sharp objects, kitchen utensils, and commercial/residential kitchen equipment.
  • Work in a variety of environments, including well-lit kitchens, walk-in refrigerators, and freezers.
