Wholey’s Market, 1711 Penn Avenue in Pittsburgh’s historic Strip District is celebrating 112 years in business and is seeking a candidate for an immediate opening for our Hot Foods Culinary sales position. This 5 days-a -week role is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to build upon their experience, work ethic, and passion for customer service to be a part of the success of this department. As a member of the Produce team, your primary focus will be servicing the customers and ensuring they have the freshest fruits, vegetables, herbs, and salads available at the best prices possible. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of retail food service experience. However, we will train the right person if they have the right attitude and willingness t work. To truly be successful here, you must be a team player first!!! Starting wage is $13.75 and rises to $17.40 over the next 24 months. Must be 18 years old or older.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assisting in the ordering of produce items
• Greeting customers and being able to assist them with needs, questions, or requests.
• Properly receive orders in the loading dock verifying everything has arrived as listed and marking corrections if necessary.
• Making fresh squeezed orange juice using the equipment and properly sanitizing it daily.
• Being available and able to cross train in other departments and assist as business needs dictate.
• Stocking of produce following rotation standards when replenishing produce levels.
• Ensure that pulled produce is directed to be properly reduced or wasted and that the loss is accurately recorded on a shrink log.
• Maintain fully stocked and rotated produce displays.
• Create signs for produce items.
• Maintain work and sales area in a clean, organized and safe manner throughout the entire shift by conducting hourly floor sweeps to ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Complete daily cleaning tasks and assist with produce deep cleaning schedule.
• Empty trash as needed throughout shift.
• Operate all equipment including manual and electric floor jacks, ladders, box cutters, and heat wrappers in a safe manner.
• Ability to handle multiple demands and to take direction and follow a checklist.
• The ability to be reliable for regular shelled shift.
• General mobility requirements include the ability to stand or walk for several hours at a time.
• Lift up to 50 lbs. briefly push and pull carts weighing up to several hundred lbs., climb ladder, stand for extended periods of time, maintain proper hygiene and be in clean, presentable uniform.
