Job Description: Kitchen Lead / Supervisor
Core Responsibilities
Culinary Excellence & Quality Control
- Standards Oversight: Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor food quality and promptly escalate any discrepancies or sub-standard products to management.
- Waste Management: Monitor production quantities and portion control to minimize food waste and optimize inventory usage.
Operational Leadership
- Workflow Coordination: Assign tasks to kitchen staff, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality benchmarks.
- Team Support: Provide hands-on assistance to cooks and kitchen staff, acting as a working mentor and departmental role model.
- Performance Management: Assist leadership in communicating operational goals, deadlines, and performance expectations to the team.
Safety & Compliance
- Regulatory Adherence: Ensure strict compliance with all company policies, food safety protocols, and external local, state, and federal regulations.
- Program Knowledge: Maintain current expertise in company Food Safety Programs and ensure all staff follow proper handling procedures.
Qualifications
- Education: Technical, Trade, or Vocational School degree required.
- Experience: Previous supervisory or lead experience preferred.
- Licensing: Valid Food Handler and TABC certifications required.
- Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license preferred (must meet insurability requirements).
- Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, professional diplomacy, and the ability to maintain confidentiality regarding proprietary information.
