Job Purpose:
- The Medical Assistant at SPC LLC is responsible for supporting healthcare professionals by performing a range of administrative and clinical tasks to ensure the smooth operation of medical facilities. This role is crucial in providing high-quality patient care and enhancing the efficiency of healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist patients as they arrive at the facility, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, maintaining an organized and efficient calendar for healthcare providers.
- Record patient information, including medical history and vital signs, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Prepare examination rooms and assist healthcare providers during patient examinations and procedures.
- Perform basic laboratory tests and handle specimens for laboratory analysis as required.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by healthcare providers, following all safety protocols.
- Maintain medical supplies inventory by checking stock and placing orders when necessary.
- Provide patient education and instructions for follow-up care, ensuring patients understand their treatment plans.
- Assist with billing and coding of medical services, ensuring accurate and timely processing of patient accounts.
- Adhere to all healthcare regulations and company policies, maintaining a high standard of patient care and safety.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a medical assistant training program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working as a medical assistant in a healthcare setting
- Experience in administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, maintaining patient records, and handling billing and insurance paperwork
- Experience in clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, assisting with patient examinations, and preparing laboratory specimens
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, healthcare professionals, and team members
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and other medical software applications
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic healthcare practices
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care
