Southern VA & NC driver needed!

Set your GPS for success by joining a family-owned metals distributor, serving our customers since 1946.

As a full-time Driver at Steel Services, Inc., you’ll work close to home and have your nights free. You’ll travel locally (Southern Virginia & North Carolina) to deliver metal materials to our customers, while adhering to local laws and understanding safety policies and regulations. The preferred candidate will live within 40 miles of Emporia, VA.

A clean driving record and top-notch customer service skills are a must!

What will your day-to-day look like?

• Pre-inspecting truck, strapping and tarping the load, according to safety procedures and DOT regulations
• Inspecting site to ensure a safe environment to unload
• Communicating regularly with supervisor to ensure timely product delivery at job site
• Maintaining electronic logbook
• Adhering to and understand safety policies and regulations
• Lifting – not to exceed 25 lbs
• Safely operating a flatbed tractor-trailer
• Displaying a positive and professional image to our customers
• Performing other duties as assigned

What are the requirements?

• CDL Class A driver license in good standing
• Drivers must be 21 years of age or older
• Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
• The ideal candidate will always put safety first and will always wear appropriate PPE
• Should prefer working in a team environment but be comfortable working on independent tasks

What experience/certifications should you have?

• Driving: 1 year (Preferred)
• License/Certification: CDL A

What will give you an edge over other applicants?

• Prior and verifiable commercial driving experience
• Experience handling metal/building materials
• Experience with flat beds and tarping loads
• Forklift experience
• Should be comfortable driving a 10-speed manual transmission truck
