“Woodside Village in Bedford Ohio is seeking experienced dietary cooks with experience preparing homemade breakfast, lunch and dinner meals for 160 residents. Are you fun to work with? Reliable, dependable, and a team player. Then Woodside Village is the place for you! This is an immediate hire position upon onboarding. Only serious inquiries please. No line cooks only or fast-food experience will be accepted.”
The candidate must have the ability to work independently. The primary shift varies from 5:30AM -6:30 PM INCLUDING WEEKENDS. Healthcare Experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare all served food
- Plan food production with director/Chef to coordinate with meal serving hours
- Memorize, record, and comprehend menu items, abbreviations, plate appearance, and portions
- Follow standard recipes and special diet orders
- Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes
- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, and appliances
- Record all food temperatures, refrigeration temperatures and other regulatory checklists
- Work well with us and is willing to take instruction from the Chef
- Understand culinary terminology
- Possess a strong ability to strive for being excellent everyday
- Understand the need for customer service to all
- Review menus prior to preparation of food.
- Inspect special diet trays to assure that the correct diet is served to the resident in accordance with diet order and correction portion size.
- Work with the facility’s Director/Chef and Dietitian to implement recommended changes as required.
- Assure that substitutions are made in accordance with facility dietitian recommendations
- Ensure that all culinary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
- Assist in standardizing the methods in which work will be accomplished.
- Assume the authority, responsibility and accountability of Cook.
- Assist in establishing food service production line, etc., to assure that meals are prepared on time.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in cooking, culinary arts, or other related fields
- Previous experience in healthcare, catering, banqueting or buffet experience
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment and cooking techniques
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work well in teams
- Ability to follow instructions from the Chef
- Ability to prepare all parts of the meal
- Lift, bend, kneel and pull.
- Stand for hours at a time
- Able to work in a demanding and stressful environment
- Able to pass a physical, drug screen and background check
- Able to be well tempered and professional at all times
- Complete other tasks as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed.
- Must be able to work every other weekend and every other holiday.
