Driller / Drilling Helper – Geoprobe Rig Operator
We are seeking an experienced Driller or Drilling Helper to support environmental and geotechnical drilling operations using a Geoprobe drill rig. This role involves working outdoors on a variety of project sites and supporting field crews with soil, groundwater, and environmental sampling activities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Operate or assist with operating Geoprobe direct-push drill rigs for environmental and geotechnical investigations.
- Perform soil sampling, groundwater well installation, and other subsurface exploration tasks.
- Maintain drilling equipment, tools, and rigs to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Assist with site setup, rig positioning, and decontamination procedures.
- Complete accurate daily field logs and documentation.
- Follow all safety protocols, including PPE requirements and equipment operation procedures.
- Support project managers, field technicians, and subcontractors on job sites as needed.
Required Experience
- 1–2 years of experience working with Geoprobe or similar direct-push drilling equipment.
- Background in environmental drilling, geotechnical drilling, or construction fieldwork.
- Familiarity with soil classification, sampling procedures, and basic field instrumentation is preferred.
Required Skills
- Ability to interpret job instructions, site plans, and field sampling requirements.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a field team.
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform equipment maintenance.
Certifications (Preferred)
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER
- First Aid/CPR
- NCDOT or similar drilling-related certifications (if applicable)
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs., traverse uneven terrain, and stand for extended periods.
- Willingness to travel to remote jobsites and occasionally stay overnight as needed.

- Job Type: Full-time
- Pay: $23.00+ per hour, based on experience and certifications
