Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and compassionate Activities Leader to inspire and coordinate engaging activities that enhance the quality of life for residents in assisted living . In this vital role, you will design, plan, and facilitate a diverse range of recreational programs tailored to seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those living with memory impairments such as Alzheimer’s and dementia. Your enthusiasm and creativity will foster a lively community atmosphere, promote social interaction, and support residents’ physical and emotional well-being. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others while utilizing your skills in recreational therapy, and senior care. Weekend and Holiday hours a must.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a variety of engaging activities that cater to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs, including dementia-specific program
- Foster a warm, inclusive environment by encouraging social interaction, companionship, and participation among residents
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as mobility, grooming, or other personal care tasks during activities when needed
- Collaborate with caregiving staff, nursing teams, social workers, and family members to tailor programs that support individual care plans and aging issues counseling
- Organize special events or outings that promote community engagement both within the facility and in the wider community
Requirements
- Proven experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior care—preferably within assisted living or nursing home environments
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease, dementia care, memory care techniques, and long-term care best practices
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage residents with diverse needs and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to assist residents with ADLs and support their physical activity goals safely and compassionately
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in home & community care settings is highly desirable
- Excellent schedule management skills to coordinate multiple activities throughout each day efficiently
- Compassionate approach to caregiving combined with a genuine enthusiasm for enriching residents’ lives through meaningful activities
