Job Summary
SSI Custom Plastics is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sales and Customer Service Lead. This individual will be a key player in driving new project opportunities by networking with potential customers and building lasting relationships. The successful candidate will be a vital link between new clients and our Engineering Team, ensuring a seamless process from initial concept to final product. This role requires a professional with a strong technical aptitude, outstanding communication skills, and a commitment to understanding all facets of our business to effectively sell our capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development: Proactively identify and engage with new business opportunities through networking, industry events, and client visits.
- Customer Relationship Management: Maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure satisfaction and identify potential for repeat business and new projects.
- Project Feasibility: Collaborate directly with the SSI Engineering Team to evaluate the technical feasibility of new project inquiries and provide accurate, timely feedback to potential customers.
- Product Knowledge: Develop a deep understanding of SSI Custom Plastics’ manufacturing processes, materials, and capabilities to effectively educate and sell to prospective clients.
- Travel: Travel up to 5% annually to meet with current and potential customers to strengthen relationships and secure new business.
- Market Analysis: Keep abreast of market trends and competitor activities to inform sales strategy.
- Reporting: Track and report on sales activities, pipeline status, and customer interactions to management.
- Social Media Participation: Create social media posts advertising our capabilities and recent projects. Participate in forums.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a sales or business development role, preferably within the manufacturing or plastics industry.
- Strong network of contacts with potential customers in relevant industries (e.g., marine, aerospace, industrial, medical).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and persuasively.
- Experience working with engineering or technical teams to assess project viability.
- Self-motivated and results-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to generate new business.
- Willingness to travel extensively to meet business needs.
