A landfill scale clerk is responsible for operating the scale at a landfill, weighing incoming vehicles carrying waste, recording weight data into a computer system, collecting payments from customers, inspecting loads for compliance with regulations, directing trucks to appropriate disposal areas, and maintaining accurate records while providing customer service in a potentially demanding environment.

Key responsibilities of a landfill scale clerk may include:

• Weighing vehicles: Operating the computerized scale to accurately weigh incoming waste trucks.
• Data entry: Recording vehicle weight, customer information, and other relevant details into the computer system.
• Payment collection: Receiving payment from customers for waste disposal fees, including handling cash and checks.
• Load inspection: Visually inspecting incoming loads to ensure compliance with landfill regulations regarding waste types and proper disposal.
