Deputy Clerk (Full-Time)

City of Poplarville (City Hall), Poplarville, Mississippi 39470

Closing Date: Open until filled.

Duties: Assists in performing the statutory duties of a City Clerk so that the administrative and financial responsibilities of the City are carried out in a prompt, efficient, and lawful manner with emphasis on customer service and accounting. Receives direction from the City Clerk, assists in issuing all licenses and permits, maintains a computer accounting system to enter all City money transactions, receipts and disbursements, maintains records associated with all transactions, balances accounts receivables and payable. Prepares and submits various government reports and acts as a Notary Public; All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: A High School Diploma or GED notarized by issuing institution or school board is required. Advanced academic education completion from an accredited institution in related areas to the position is recommended but not required. Individuals considered must have above average computer skills, to include the use of Microsoft Office Suite and the use of email. A Minimum of three years’ experience in related work experience with progressive responsibilities is desired. Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities will be considered. A working knowledge of office management procedures, records management, filing systems, office correspondence is required. Potential candidates must have the capability to interact with customers and other City employees in a professional and cordial manner at all times.

Compensation: Compensation will be commensurate with experience, not to exceed $12.00 per hour.
