AIT is seeking Shipyard Helpers with a focus on Firewatch, painting, prep, lifting and general labor tasks to support the ship repair industry throughout the Hampton Roads area. This role involves assisting skilled tradespeople and performing essential duties to ensure safe and efficient operations.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Heavy lifting, loading, unloading and material handling
• Firewatch
• Basic surface prep, brush and roller painting
• Clean and prepare work areas
• Operate hand and power tools
• Run and pull cable
• Support production staff with various tasks

Required Qualifications:

• Prior shipyard experience
• Comfortable performing manual labor and standing for long periods
• Ability to lift heavy objects and work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions closely
• Reliable transportation and flexibility to travel throughout Hampton Roads (job locations may vary daily)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Eligible for DBIDs (work on US Naval Bases/Shipyards)
• OSHA Maritime 10hr Certification

• Physically agile to perform tasks in extreme temperatures and outdoor environments
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, and use hands, fingers, and feet, climb, balance, stoop, squat, and kneel for extended periods
