Full job description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, dishwashing area, and all food preparation zones in accordance with hotel hygiene standards.
  • Wash and sanitize all kitchen utensils, equipment, dishes, glassware, and cutlery promptly and efficiently.
  • Ensure proper handling, cleaning, and storage of kitchen equipment and tools to prevent damage or loss.
  • Support chefs and kitchen staff by supplying clean equipment, tableware, and utensils as required during service.
  • Remove garbage and recyclables regularly and ensure waste areas are clean and sanitized.
  • Operate dishwashing machines safely and according to standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment as needed.
  • Follow hotel and local hygiene, health, and safety regulations at all times.
  • Assist in basic food preparation or other kitchen duties when requested by supervisors.
  • Report any maintenance issues, equipment malfunctions, or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
  • Ensure back-of-house areas are always clean, organized, and ready for inspection.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Kitchen Steward, Dishwasher, or similar role in a 4- or 5-star hotel or high-volume restaurant preferred.
  • Understanding of hygiene, sanitation, and food safety standards.
  • Physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced, hot, and humid kitchen environment.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and assist in various kitchen operations.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Basic communication skills in English; additional languages are an advantage.
