Roles and responsibilities of a steward

  • Clean and maintain the dining area, including sweeping and mopping floors, wiping tables, and washing windows. Ensure the kitchen and service areas are free from spills and waste.
  • Wash, dry, and store dishes, utensils, and kitchenware using proper cleaning methods, ensuring they are sanitized and hygienically stored.
  • Provide clean and organized equipment and utensils to the kitchen staff, assist with food delivery, clear tables, and ensure condiments are replenished.
  • Track the stock of cleaning supplies, utensils, and kitchen tools, and report any shortages or damaged items to the supervisor for timely replacement.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensure a safe working environment, handle cleaning chemicals responsibly, and promptly report any safety concerns.
  • Regularly empty waste bins, manage the disposal of garbage, and follow proper procedures for recycling and waste segregation.
  • Provide friendly and efficient service to guests, attending to their special requests and ensuring their needs are met.
  • Work closely with kitchen, service, and management teams to ensure smooth operations and effective communication for a coordinated workflow.
  • Take on any additional tasks assigned by the chef in charge, supervisors or managers to support the daily operations and contribute to overall customer satisfaction.

Kitchen Steward qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is usually sufficient for entry-level positions.
  • Additional certifications or training in hospitality or food safety can provide an advantage.
  • Prior experience in kitchen operations, dishwashing, or cleaning is preferred but not always required for entry-level roles.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning techniques and equipment.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic English proficiency to understand instructions and communicate effectively.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED1,900.00 – AED2,100.00 per month
