We are seeking an enthusiastic Food & Beverage Hostess to join our hospitality team. The successful candidate will deliver exceptional guest experiences, manage reservations and seating, and support front-of-house operations in a fast-paced restaurant or event environment. This role requires excellent communication, strong organisational skills, and a warm, professional manner.
Key Responsibilities – Food & Beverage Hostess duties
- Welcome guests with a friendly, professional demeanour and manage the flow of arrivals and departures.
- Handle reservations, waitlists and table allocations using the venue’s booking system.
- Communicate effectively with front-of-house and kitchen teams to ensure smooth service and accurate seating.
- Provide information about menus, specials, dietary options and allergen information; escalate queries to senior staff when necessary.
- Maintain a tidy, organised reception and host station; prepare menus, place settings and promotional materials as needed.
- Assist with guest enquiries, special requests and complaint resolution to uphold high standards of customer service.
- Support event setup and guest coordination during private functions, banquets and special events.
- Adhere to health, safety and hygiene regulations, including food safety and COVID-19 protocols where applicable.
- Process payments and manage billing queries when required, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
Person Specification – Skills and Experience for Food & Beverage Hostess
- Previous experience in a hospitality, restaurant or events environment preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; friendly, calm and professional under pressure.
- Excellent verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are an advantage.
- Organised, punctual and able to multitask during busy service periods.
- Basic IT skills and familiarity with reservation systems, POS terminals and mobile communication devices.
- Knowledge of food allergens, special dietary requirements and front-of-house procedures.
- Right to work in the UK and flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required.
Qualifications and Training – Food & Beverage Hostess requirements
- Hospitality-related qualifications or customer service training desirable but not essential.
- Food hygiene certification (Level2 or equivalent) is advantageous.
- Full training will be provided on venue procedures, reservation software and service standards.
