Job Description:
The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and back-of-house areas. This role supports kitchen and service operations by ensuring proper cleaning, dishwashing, waste management, and adherence to health and safety standards.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, crockery, cutlery, and glassware
- Operate dishwashing machines and ensure proper handling of cleaned items
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, stores, corridors, and back-of-house spaces
- Assist in receiving, storing, and organizing kitchen supplies
- Ensure proper waste disposal and segregation as per hotel standards
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations at all times
- Support kitchen staff during operations when required
- Report maintenance issues, breakages, or safety hazards to the supervisor
- Ensure cleaning chemicals are used and stored correctly
Desired Skill & Expertise:
- Previous experience as a Steward or similar role preferred
- Basic knowledge of hygiene and sanitation standards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Physically fit and able to stand for long hours
- Team player with a positive attitude
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
