Full job description

The Catering Waiter is responsible for providing high-quality service at events such as weddings, corporate functions, parties, and banquets. This role includes setting up event spaces, serving food and beverages, assisting guests, and ensuring that all catering standards are met for a smooth and successful event.

Key Responsibilities Event Setup & Preparation

  • Set up tables, chairs, linens, cutlery, and decorations according to event plans.
  • Prepare buffet stations, beverage areas, and service points.
  • Ensure all event areas are clean, organized, and ready before guests arrive.

Food & Beverage Service

  • Greet guests and provide professional, friendly service throughout the event.
  • Serve plated meals, appetizers, and drinks based on the event schedule.
  • Refill beverages, clear plates, and maintain cleanliness of guest tables.
  • Monitor food levels and communicate with kitchen or event staff if replenishing is needed.
  • Follow proper food safety and hygiene practices.

Guest Assistance

  • Respond politely and quickly to guest requests and questions.
  • Provide special assistance for guests with dietary needs or mobility issues.
  • Ensure guests have a positive dining and event experience.

Event Support & Teardown

  • Assist with packing up equipment, clearing tables, and cleaning the event space.
  • Break down stations, remove trash, and return items to storage areas.
  • Help load and unload catering supplies and equipment when necessary.

Teamwork & Communication

  • Work closely with supervisors, chefs, and other catering staff to ensure smooth event flow.
  • Communicate any issues, guest concerns, or supply shortages promptly.
  • Attend training sessions and pre-event briefings.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous catering or banquet service experience.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to multitask and handle fast-paced or high-volume events.
  • Ability to carry trays, stand for long hours, and move between event areas.
  • Professional appearance, punctuality, and a positive attitude.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on event schedules.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 25–30 lbs (10–14 kg).
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to carry large trays or multiple plates safely.
