Job Description
The Restaurant Hostess is the first point of contact for guests and plays a key role in creating a warm and welcoming dining experience. She is responsible for greeting guests, managing reservations, coordinating table assignments, and ensuring smooth guest flow in the restaurant. The role requires excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and strong guest service focus.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival and escort them to their tables.
- Manage the reservation system, including booking, confirming, and updating reservations.
- Maintain an organized and accurate seating plan to ensure smooth service flow.
- Answer telephone inquiries regarding restaurant availability, menus, and special events.
- Communicate wait times and manage guest expectations during busy periods.
- Assist in monitoring the cleanliness and presentation of the entrance, host stand, and dining area.
- Coordinate with the service team to ensure tables are prepared and ready before seating guests.
- Provide menus and share basic information about the restaurant offerings.
- Handle guest requests, inquiries, or concerns promptly and professionally.
- Assist in collecting guest feedback and communicating it to the management team.
- Maintain professional grooming and appearance in line with hotel standards.
- Support the restaurant team with additional tasks as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality training preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role, preferably in a hotel or upscale restaurant.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Professional, friendly, and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm in busy periods.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with reservation systems (e.g., OpenTable, SevenRooms) is an advantage.
- Fluent in English and Arabic; additional languages are a plus.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Ability to walk guests to tables and move around the restaurant comfortably.
