Painter/Mason

Job Description:

The Painter/Mason is responsible for maintaining the hotel’s building finishes, including painting, and minor masonry works. The role ensures guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities remain in excellent condition through timely repairs, preventive maintenance, and finishing works that reflect the hotel’s brand standards.


Responsibilities:

  • Receive and attend day-to-day maintenance calls, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Report job summaries for guest rooms and common areas, including materials used.
  • Carry out ceramic tiling, re-tiling, silicon application, and grouting works.
  • Perform brick laying, hollow block work, cement plastering, and plain cement concrete casting.
  • Handle modification and installation works such as marble tops, granite panels, wash basin counters, and kitchen countertops.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting: sanding, filling, joint repairs, and cleaning.
  • Apply all types of paints (water-based, oil-based, epoxy, and topcoat finishes).
  • Ensure proper painting application on different surfaces (gypsum, cement, wood, block, and metal).
  • Assist team members in projects and maintenance tasks, ensuring smooth and safe completion.
  • Contribute to guest satisfaction by promptly resolving issues with minimal disturbance.
  • Ensure safety, comfort, and quality standards are upheld in all engineering works.
  • Study and recommend cost-saving rectifications using consumables or spare parts, prioritizing repair instead of replacement where safe and feasible.

Desired Skill & Expertise:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in painting and masonry (hospitality preferred).
  • Knowledge of paint types, finishes, plastering techniques, and tiling works.
  • Spray painting knowledge is an advantage.
  • Ability to repair cracks, leaks, and wall/floor damages efficiently.
  • Familiarity with waterproofing and surface preparation methods.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
