Full job description
We are looking for a procurement officer to oversee purchasing activities and ensure that purchased items are both cost-efficient and of high quality. To be successful as a procurement officer you should have an analytical mind and be able to negotiate well and ensure that all purchases comply with company standards. The key responsibilities will include the following:
Responsibilities:
- Source and procure spare parts from approved local and international vendors.
- Ensure the selection of quality parts that meet the operational standards.
- Request and compare quotations to ensure competitive pricing and timely delivery.
- Place and follow up on purchase orders based on maintenance schedules and stock levels.
- Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and identify new sources for parts.
- Evaluate supplier performance based on price, quality, delivery time, and service.
- Coordinate with vendors for lead times, urgent deliveries, warranty claims, and product availability.
- Ensure proper stock levels and part availability.
- Avoid overstocking and ensure critical parts are always available to reduce vehicle downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of orders, delivery receipts, part numbers, warranties, and supplier documents.
- Ensure compliance with import/export regulations and company procurement policies.
- Coordinate with logistics teams for clearance of imported parts.
- Work closely with workshops and maintenance teams to understand part requirements, vehicle specifications, and compatibility.
- Provide technical input to ensure correct parts are ordered for specific models or equipment.
Qualifications:
- Technical Diploma or bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, Automotive Technology, Supply Chain, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in automotive spare parts procurement.
- Knowledge of parts for vehicles is essential.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
